PRAYER- IT CHANGES US.
HOW TO PRAY
* WORSHIP -you must know God and His character, So praise Him and bless Him for His worth, use names such as: our Creator, Most High, our Righteousness, Shepherd, Provider, our Peace, our Banner, our Healer, Lord of Hosts, Deliverer.
* ALLEGIANCE - to the Fatherhood of God for we are His children. We have a relationship with Him and He lives within me. He is the sovereign ruler of the kingdom of God.
* SUBMISSION - God's will be done, choose God's path and not your own. Follow Him totally , you can't adjust His will to your plans. Abide in Him, in His words, and let His words abide in you. Present your body as a living and holy sacrifice, be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
* PETITION AND INTERCESSION - totally depend on God for your daily needs, trust in God not money or man. Thy kingdom come= pray for the lost world, forgive as He has forgiven you, confess your sins, ask for our needs, for your own and for all mankind, seek His protection and walk in continual dependence on Him, ask by pleading His promises from His own words in the Bible, pray to the Father in Jesus name, through Jesus, who has made you right with God.
* CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS - live righteously, your sins hide you from God's face, do not regard wickedness in your heart,
if you confess He forgives you.
* DELIVERANCE - tell God you do not want to be caught in the devil's snare, keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation, pray not to fall and not to fail, allow the trial of your faith which produces endurance to strengthen you and grow you to a greater maturity, you are to be able to respond properly so you won't yield to the temptation, this is preventative prayer, pray not your will but God's will be done in your life through this situation, stay awake to the schemes of the enemy, our flesh is weak though our spirit is willing, be aware of your dependence on God to help us in our weakness, the war is real, Satan desires to sift us as wheat, we are willing but unable to stand in our own righteousness. God must deliver us. Worship triumphantly, singing of His power and glory.

The Lord's Prayer Model
The Lord Jesus said that when you pray, not if you pray, and then He gave us a model which contains six elements by which we can formulate our own prayers. He desires relationship above all. We are to be in a right relationship with Him so that we are able to pray to Him.
Our Father, embodies the concept that we pray not only for ourself, but all God's children as well; we intercede for others as well. We come to Him as His own children, adopted into His family. This prayer is reserved for those who know Him, and revere Him as Lord, God Almighty. With respect and honor we come before Him to offer our praises and to adore Him who sits on the throne. We acknowledge that He is Lord over all. He is the one true God. He is holy and worthy or our praise.
We desire that His will is done here on earth as it is in heaven. We were made to be a partaker in bringing the kingdom to its fulness. His good and perfect will is to advance the kingdom in this world of darkness. He has given us the light to carry into this dark world. We acknowledge that His plan is good and we will align our lives up to assist in bringing His will to fruition. We will plant the seeds and God will cause it to grow. We learn to align our lives up with God's will for us. We seek His kingdom first. We ask that He break into our world and that His will be accomplished. His kingdom is light and love and it will dispel the darkness and hate.
He provides us all that we need out His rich abundance. He knows how to give good gifts. We live in a world of constant anxiety and are reminded that He provides for us day by day. We do not need to worry about tomorrow, and don't need to be concerned about our future. Our treasure is in heaven. We should accumulate things that rust and will someday be destroyed. We should not trust in money, for it can quickly be devalued. God knows what we have need of before we ask. We only need to come humbly, and put our trust in Him.
Kingdom life has to do with relationship. We relate to God and others in daily life. When we hurt others we are hurting God. We are saying that we don't have all we need. Others hurt us for the same reason. God is full of grace and mercy and forgives us all our sins. He paid a great price to offer us that free gift of grace. If we don't forgive others our hearts are not right with God and He can't forgive us either. God will help us to have hearts that are full of mercy, and give us the ability to forgive others. Unforgiveness is like a spiritual cancer that eats ever so slow in our soul. God wants to bring healing, and when we forgive others we will feel that healing. We do well to examine our hearts, and see if there is anything that we should repent of. God will show us where we have failed to display His love and mercy. He knows everything about us. Just come and receive and freely give.
Any sin that we harbor could lead us into a deep sin. The enemy, the devil, is waiting for opportunities to trip us up, and then ensnare us. We pray that God would guide us so that as temptation comes, He will show us the way out before it leads to entrapment. God knows our weaknesses and when we are weak He is strong. God wants us to depend on Him, that is what relationship is all about. He is a loving Father and won't leave us without a rescue.
Jesus prayed that we wouldn't be taken out of the world, but that the Father would protect us from the evil one. He does. The Father offers His protection from the evil one who comes to seek us and destroy us. He wants to steal our health, damage our relationships, steal our joy, he wants to leave us with guilt and shame. But God has already saved us from the consequences of our sin. We are no longer under condemnation. When the enemy comes against us in our walk with God, along our spiritual journey, God is there to protect us. Put on the full armor of God. He is our everything.

The Miracle of Answered Prayer by Rev. John G. Hallimond, DD
The law of prayer: Prayer is the means by which we approach, appropriate and assimilate God. By an act of the will we switch ourselves on to the omnipotence of God, just as a child, by an act of the will, switches the electric bulb on to the power-house several miles away. The only difference is that the supply of power in the power-house can be measured by volts and amperes, and God's power is absolutely immeasurable and illimitable. Yes, of course there is mystery in prayer, there is mystery in spiritual things.
Here are a few of the conspicuous characteristics of prevailing prayer as taught by the Great and Authoritative Teacher.
A. It is associated with the doctrine of the Fatherhood of God. After this manner pray: "Our Father who are in heaven. Matt 6:9
B. It is based upon the collateral truth of the solidarity and brotherhood of the race: "Our Father who are in heaven" Matt 6:9
C. It is an affair of the spirit. "Vain repetitions", boisterous and bombastic externals, and public display are all sternly deprecated; "God is a spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth." John 4:24
D. It is an outcome of an essential union of the human spirit, with the spirit of Christ: "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatsoever you will, and it shall be done unto you." John15:7
E. It is to be boldly, persevering, and importunately exercised: "Because of His importunity He will rise and give" Luke 11:8
F. It is to invariably associated with a spirit of good-will to our fellow man: "And when ever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against any one, that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses" Mark 11:25
G. It is to be exercised individually, and in secret: "But you, when you pray, enter into the inner chamber, and having shut the door, pray to the Father who is in secret" Matt 6:6
H. It is also to be undertaken in association with others:" If two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them. Matt 18:19-20
I. It must be exercised in a perfect blending of the human will with the will of God: "My Father if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will. Matt 26:39
J. It must be the outcome of an unfaltering and abounding faith; "And Jesus answering said unto them, Have faith in God. Verily I say unto you, who ever shall say unto this mountain, be taken up and cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he said shall come to pass, he shall have it. Therefore I say unto you, what ever you pray and ask for, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them." Mark 11:22-24
K. It is the power that brings laborers into the service of the Kingdom: "Then He said unto His disciples, the harvest indeed is plenteous but the laborers are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He send forth laborers into His harvest."Matt 9:37,38
L. It must be definite: "What do you want me to do for you?" Luke 18:41
M. It must have as its supreme end the glorifying of God the Father: "Whatever you shall ask in my name, that will I do that the Father may be glorified." John 14:13
N. It must be presented "in the name" of Christ; that is clothed with the power and authority which Christ's name symbolized, and His personality embodies:" If you shall ask anything in my name that will I do." John 14:14
O. It must be of an unselfish and intercessory character. Here the Great Teacher's example, rather than His words, is to be our guide and inspiration. His intercessions were habitual and abundant. He prayed for His disciples, for His enemies, for the sick, for the children, and for the whole community; "Neither for these only do I pray, but for them also that believe on Me through their word; that they may be all one, as You are in Me, and I are in You, that they also may be in us; that the world may believe that You did send Me." John 17:20,21
P. It has an absolute assurance that it will be heard and answered: "Ask and it shall be given you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened unto you, for every one that asks receives and he that seeks will find, and to him that knocks, it shall be opened." Matt 7:7,8

The following is from Armin Gesswein's School of Prayer:
Early in the ministry I had an experience which completely changed my understanding of prayer. What a transformation! I was called to start churches and had just discovered "prayer meeting truth" in the Acts. So I started a prayer meeting- the first one I ever attended.
In came an elderly Methodist one night. When he prayed, I detected something new. "I have never heard praying like that," I said to myself. It was not only fervency-I had plenty of that. Heaven and earth got together at once when he prayed. There was a strange immediacy about it. The prayer and the answer were not far apart- in fact they were moving together. He had it "in the bag" so it seemed to me. The Holy Spirit was right there, in action, giving him assurance of the answer even while he was praying! When I prayed, God was "way out there", somewhere in the distance, listening. The answer, too, was in the distance, in the bye and bye.
Eager to learn his secret ,I went to see him one day. His name was Amborse Whaley, and everyone called him "Uncle Am". He was a retired blacksmith-also a Methodist lay preacher. I soon came to the point, "Uncle Am, I would love to pray with you." At once he arose, led me outside across the driveway into a red barn, up a ladder, into a haymow! There, in some old hay, lay 2 big Bibles-one open. "What is this?" I thought. I prayed first, as I recall it. Poured out my heart, needs, burdens, wishes, aspirations, ambitions to God. Then he prayed-and there was "that difference" again. There, in that hay, on our knees, at the eyeball level, I said: "Uncle Am, what is it? . . . you have some kind of a secret in praying. Would you mind sharing it with me?
I was 24 and he was 73 (he lived to be 93), and with an eagle-look in his eyes, he said, YOUNG MAN, LEARN TO PLEAD THE PROMISES OF GOD!
That did it! My praying has never been the same since. That word completely changed my understanding of prayer. It really revolutionized it! I "saw it" as soon as he said it. Saw what? Well-when I prayed there was fervency, ambition etc. (The Lord does not put a perfect squelch on these either) But I lacked FAITH. Prayer is the key to heaven, but faith unlocks the door. THERE MUST BE FAITH. Where does that come from? From hearing... the WORD OF GOD. Uncle Am would plead Scripture after Scripture, reminding Him of promise after promise, pleading these like a lawyer does his case-the Holy Spirit pouring in His assurance of being heard. This man knew the promises "by the bushel". He did not seem to need those 2 Bibles in that hay! I soon learned that he was a mighty intercessor. He prayed "clear through", he prayed THROUGH THE BIBLE. He taught me the secret of intercessory praying. How can I ever thank God enough for leading me to such a prayer warrior!
